Photo printing near me

657 camera store and photo labs in this directory print photos — from 4x6 reprints to gallery-size giclée and canvas. Below: what printing actually costs in 2026, the sizes where a camera store beats the drugstore (and the sizes where it plainly does not), and how to stop your prints coming out darker than your screen.

The short version

A camera store will not beat Walmart on a 4x6. Walmart is about $0.09 a print and CVS about $0.39; camera-store reprints run $0.29–$0.59. What you are buying at a camera store is everything the drugstore kiosk cannot do — 16x20 and larger, giclée on fine-art paper, stretched canvas, mounting, and color that matches the file you sent. Print snapshots at the drugstore. Bring the picture you actually care about here.

What photo printing costs at a camera store (2026)

Two different price lists live under the same roof, and confusing them is why printing quotes feel wildly inconsistent. Reprints are machine prints on photo paper — the everyday product. Fine art is a pigment-inkjet giclée on archival paper or canvas, priced as artwork reproduction.

Everyday reprints

Print sizeTypical camera-store price
4x6$0.29 – $0.59
5x7$0.99 – $2.99
8x10$3.99 – $6.99
11x14$9.99 – $14.99

Ranges reflect published 2026 price lists at independent camera stores and photo labs including Biggs Camera, Precision Photo Lab, Southeastern Camera and Orleans Camera. Individual shops vary — treat these as the going rate, not a quote.

Fine art, giclée and canvas

ProductSizeTypical price
Giclée, print only8x10$10 – $20
Giclée, print only16x20$25 – $50
Giclée, print only24x36$60 – $120
Stretched canvas16x20about $100
Stretched canvas24x36about $240
Mounting16x20about $25
Oversize / roll paperper square foot$10 – $40

The jump from $25 to $100 between a flat 16x20 giclée and the same image on stretched canvas is not markup — it is bar stock, stretching labour and a finished object you can hang without framing. Framing a 16x20 typically costs more than the canvas does.

Same-day photo printing

"Photo printing near me open now" is almost always a deadline search. These shops advertise same-day turnaround in their own material. A shop with an in-house minilab can hand you 4x6s in an hour; a shop that sends work out cannot, whatever the sign says. Call before you drive.

Next-day turnaround: Precision Camera and Video · District Camera and Imaging · National Camera Exchange · Gulf Coast Camera · Precision Camera & Video · West Photo · Precision Camera and Video · District Camera & Imaging · PostalAnnex · Pro Image Photo Lab · LocketPrints.com · Citizens Photo

Why your prints do not match your screen

This is the single most common complaint about ordering prints, and it is almost never the lab's fault. Four causes, in the order they bite:

  1. Your screen emits light; paper reflects it. A monitor makes its own light in RGB. A print is ink on paper reflecting whatever light is in the room, in CMYK. Paper physically cannot reach a backlit white — a print will always be a little quieter than the screen. Judge prints under decent daylight, not a warm lamp.
  2. No ICC profile was assigned. An untagged file is a set of numbers with no stated meaning, so the printer guesses — usually wrong, usually toward flat or oversaturated. Export with a profile embedded (sRGB is the safe default unless the lab asks for something else).
  3. Your monitor is far too bright. Factory settings run near maximum. Edit at that brightness and you will consistently print too dark, because you darkened the image to look right on a lamp. Calibrate to roughly 80–120 cd/m², D65 white point, gamma 2.2 and the "my prints are muddy" problem usually disappears on its own.
  4. You never soft-proofed. Soft-proofing previews your file through the exact paper profile the lab uses, showing which colours fall outside what that paper can reproduce — deep blues and vivid reds are the usual casualties. Ask your lab for its paper profiles; a good one will send them.

If colour accuracy is the reason you are here, say so at the counter. It is precisely the thing a camera store can do that a self-serve kiosk cannot.

Photo printing questions

How much does photo printing cost at a camera store?
Everyday reprints run roughly $0.29–$0.59 for a 4x6, $0.99–$2.99 for a 5x7, $3.99–$6.99 for an 8x10 and $9.99–$14.99 for an 11x14. Fine-art giclée printing is a different product on different paper and is priced separately: about $10–$20 for an 8x10, $25–$50 for a 16x20 and $60–$120 for a 24x36, with oversize work often billed at $10–$40 per square foot.
Is a camera store cheaper than Walmart or CVS for prints?
No — and no honest shop will tell you otherwise. Walmart prints a 4x6 for about $0.09 and CVS for about $0.39, against $0.29–$0.59 at a camera store. Camera stores win at 16x20 and larger, on giclée and canvas, on mounting and finishing, and on color accuracy. If all you need is a stack of 4x6 snapshots, use the drugstore.
What is a giclée print, and why does it cost more?
A giclée is a pigment-inkjet print made at high resolution on archival fine-art paper or canvas. You are paying for the paper, the pigment inks, and a profiled printer that holds color — the kind of print people frame and sell. Print-only pricing typically starts around $10–$20 for an 8x10 and $25–$50 for a 16x20.
Can a camera store print my photo on canvas?
Many do. Published pricing for stretched canvas runs about $100 for a 16x20 and about $240 for a 24x36. Mounting a 16x20 print to board is around $25. Confirm sizes and substrates with the individual shop before you order.
Can I get photos printed the same day?
Some shops run in-house minilabs and turn prints around the same day; others send work to a lab and quote days, not hours. This directory flags the businesses whose own material advertises same-day or next-day turnaround — but for a deadline, call first and confirm the size you need is one they print on site.
Why do my prints come out darker than they looked on screen?
Your monitor emits light (RGB); paper reflects it (CMYK), so paper can never reach screen brightness. Three fixes cover most cases: assign an ICC profile instead of sending an untagged file, calibrate the screen down to roughly 80–120 cd/m² at D65 white point and gamma 2.2 (most monitors ship far too bright), and soft-proof with the lab paper profile before you send the file.

More from the same shops

The counter that prints your photos usually does three other things worth knowing about:
