John has always been an important fixture of the community in my opinion. He runs a store that is a literal time machine to when things were simpler and things were made to last. From record collecting to buying my first 35mm film camera, it’s all been right here.
John is a really great guy who knows his stuff. They develop film, and they sell vintage cameras and lenses. He has a really great selection! He also seeks records, and there was also a large selection of records available.
Something for everyone to see (and/or purchase) here! New & pre-loved vinyl, camera gear of every stripe and era (rare batteries even)! A gem of a local small business that's been in Blacksburg in some form or other for 30+ yrs (I used to salivate over the Nikon cameras as an undergrad in the 90s).
I visited John’s Camera & Records over summer. I found John to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The rest of the people working there are great too. His records are organized and fairly priced. From my perspective, he keeps duplicates down to a minimum. I like to visit record stores when I travel.
